Fell and Furrow is a small, family run business headed up by Chris and Jo. We are based just outside of Penrith and work primarily in the Lake District and surrounding area. With a broad knowledge of plants, specifically those that thrive in the Lakeland environment, our approach works with the natural landscape often taking shape over a number of years.
Chris | Garden Designer | Horticulturalist
Chris started out his career in Horticulture with a diploma in horticulture from Askham Bryan college, York, in 2004. He has since taken on garden design and management projects in Yorkshire prior to relocating to Cumbria in 2014. Chris leads in both design, garden management and planting schemes.
His vision and time spent in these Lakeland gardens, with their very rugged, natural landscapes has shaped a new passion for plants that thrive in this environment. This experience alongside a creative approach has been invaluable in creating some naturally beautiful spaces for our existing clients.

Jo | Gardener
Jo has been working alongside Chris for a number of years alongside her roles in the Arts sector. Jo leads the financial and administration side of the business and focuses on the maintenance side of things while supporting project work seasonally. She has a keen eye for detail in the garden and continues to expand her knowledge while making sure the cogs behind the scenes keep turning.
